The work SSDP is doing is powerful since students turn to their peers first when they encounter and experiment with drug use. SSDP meets students where they are. Listen to Potcast 51 and learn how you can do the same and support the young people in your life to develop into conscious and empowered citizens and future leaders.
"After the Show" Notes
Thank you to my guest, Vilmarie Fraguada Narloch, Psy.D. Vilmarie is a psychologist based in Chicago and is the Drug Education Manager at Students for Sensible Drug Policy. She also runs the SSDP “Just Say Know” Peer Education Program. I’m grateful for her insight to empower us to talk to teens in a meaningful way about drugs in contemporary culture.
Students for Sensible Drug Policy believes that students should be an overall part of any campus and community prevention and intervention strategy. The SSDP Peer Education program seeks to:
Empower students to analyze the relationship between drug policy and drug use by providing evidence-based drug information,
Teach students to recognize and address dangerous behaviors and unhealthy attitudes, and
Promote prosocial and harm reduction oriented behaviors and attitudes.
The work SSDP is doing is powerful since students turn to their peers first when they encounter and experiment with drug use. SSDP meets students where they are. Listen in on my chat with Vilmarie and learn how you can do the same and support the young people in your life to develop into conscious and empowered citizens and future leaders.
