Potcast 161: Inspired Action + Hemp Can Change the World
In my adult life - food, travel, and cannabis have been the trifecta for building meaningful connections. So when Shadi Ramey reached out to me, her story felt familiar, though beautifully unique. In this potcast, we explore hemp as nutrition, food as a foundation for connection, and the highly responsible considerations we make for our own bodies, families, and Mother Earth. Shadi believes that how we choose to nourish ourselves is the foundation of all things. And just in time for the holidays, her new cookbook Hemp Can Change the World makes its debut.

‘After the Show’ Notes
Shadi Ramey is an accomplished hemp innovator and thought-leader, fiercely combining her talents as a Chef, product developer and citizen of the world to raise awareness about the power of hemp. Shadi’s MA in Cultural Anthropology and her experience as a plant-based chef of nearly two decades paved the way for cultivating a unique, global and culinary interest in hemp. Her dynamic approach to hemp food and nutrition has earned her distinction in cannabis culture and the culinary industry. She began experimenting with hemp in food in 2014 and shortly thereafter developed her own line of organic, non-GMO, hemp-based body care products, called Satya Kama Cream™. The cream was featured at NoCo Hemp Expo 4 in 2017, during which time the cream generated media attention, being published in Westword and on the local news for its unique accolades: Satya Kama is one of the only hemp companies in the world to be working with B Corp, a rigorous qualification for businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Shadi believes in using business as a force for good, and the mission of Satya Kama is to “...spread smiles, empower others and do the right thing when no one is looking.”
Since 2015 Shadi has been involved with several hemp product development projects, and has grown her own hemp, recently completing her fifth year of growing. She is currently working on a hemp cookbook; set to come out in the Summer of 2020. She is the mother of 3 beautiful children who have grown up around hemp and inspire her daily to make the world a better place.
Shadi has a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology with a focus on sustainable economic development. She has years of experience working with B Corp with mission driven business and conscious capitalism. She has been working on carbon finance issues since 2018 and is well versed in this subject and consults with other companies to help develop strategic plans to pursue carbon negative business practices. Ethical supply chain management is a specialty of Shadi’s. Shadi works with companies to make true sustainability a priority by working on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development goals. “The future of the sustainable cannabis industry lies in mission driven business, carbon finance and showing true leadership with a supply chain rooted in a company ethos of integrity, accountability and transparency.“
