Potcast 155: Tolerance Breaks and Cannabis Use During Pregnancy

I like to go the extra mile for my Potcast Patrons - the reciprocation of love and support is such a good feeling. So, today’s potcast is for Amanda. Amanda is a lovely Potcast Patron who is ready to start a family. And like many of you highly responsible cannabis consumers, she and her partner have lots of questions and concerns about cannabis use during pregnancy.

Amanda, we may have left you with more questions than answers on Potcast 155, but I feel confident we’ve dropped the breadcrumbs to navigate the right path for you.

I encourage you to share this potcast with anyone questioning their cannabis consumption. And if you’re picking up what I’m putting down, please rate and review Casually Baked on iTunes or Apple Podcasts. That helps others find this highly responsible cannabis content.

And last but certainly not least, if you find inspiration and value in the edutainment I provide, please consider becoming a Potcast Patron for as little as $5 per month. Click the banner below or visit Patreon.com/casuallybaked.

Puff puff, pass it on. 💚✨ -Jo

Cannabis Pharmacologist, Dr. Linda Klumpers, joins Jo to discuss tolerance breaks, cannabis use during pregnancy, postpartum depression, and tools to help you responsibly personalize your cannabis experience. We also explore cultural differences around cannabis and pregnancy and the importance of communication in creating a plan that works for you. The theme of this potcast might be pregnancy, but it’s really for anyone questioning their cannabis consumption.

The “cannabis and pregnancy” discussion is a smokey shade of gray.

So I want to leave you with this reminder. You are the authority of your own health and well-being. Set yourself up for success by doing the homework and talking it out with your partner or person. You get clear on what feels like the best plan for you first.

We are all precious snowflakes and you know your body best. Make time to understand the nuances of your relationship with cannabis. When you’re feeling good about it, bring your doctor into the discussion.

Like Dr. Callie suggested to us in Potcast 149, find relevant peer-reviewed journals and take them to your doctor and ask questions about the studies. Ask your doc what the research is suggesting with the data - you know, speak their language.

And don’t be afraid to ask all of your questions. Be curious and open to hearing what your doctor has to say. And also be open to finding a new doctor if you feel judged or uncomfortable.

Both of the resources linked below will help you better understand your current consumption habits.

And how cannabis works with your body.  Dr. Klumpers and her team are continuously researching cannabis and cannabis products and they share those scientific insights with you at cannify.us

Cannify is an online educational tool for making cannabis science approachable and useful for you as the consumer. Cannify is a one-stop-shop for cannabis research.
