‘After the Show’ Notes
I sat down with Tina Gordon at Moon Made Farms, located in Southern Humboldt County, 33.3 linear miles from the Pacific ocean on 40 acres of leeward mountain slopes of native rock and clay. And a 1-hour drive up the gnarliest dirt road I’ve ever driven. We spent the afternoon walking the farm, doting on the girls, taking fun harvest pics and laughing… and squeezing in gardening lessons while discussing what it’s like being a female farmer. I love Tina’s perspective. I dig her energy. And I’m a fan of her style of growing and the strain selections she chooses to produce. She’s owning feminized farming.

Vocabulary from this Chat
LUNAR FARMING - utilizing lunar rhythms as a tool for navigating planting periods and harvest dates
If you’re like me you get confused between waxing and waning, so here’s a nerdy tip to help you remember.
Distinguishing Waxing (getting bigger) and Waning (getting smaller)
How can it be determined if the moon is waxing? When the moon is in its waxing phase, it looks similar to the capital letter ‘D’, in that the right side of the moon is smooth and rounded; whereas, the left side looks more uneven and darkening.
What makes the waning moon easily identifiable? When the moon is in its waning phase, it appears more like the capital letter ‘C’; the right side appears darker, more indistinct, while the left side is smooth and rounded.
ENTHEOGEN - A class of psychoactive substances that induce any type of spiritual experience aimed at development or sacred use. The term entheogen is often chosen to contrast the recreational use of the same drugs. In other words, it’s the “highly responsible” word choice over the term psychedelics.
FEMINIZED FARMING SHOW & TELL
When I was a kid, my sisters and I were forced to make scrapbooks every summer of our school year. I might have been the only one who really loved the process. And I think about it every time I put together digital albums like this. I hope you enjoy pictures and videos from my day with Tina Gordon at Moon Made Farms.
